Backstage at What We Wore

This fall, I had the honor of modeling in John McIlwee's original production of "What We Wore," a fashion variety show, of sorts, that chronicled the past 125 years of fashion with music, dance and over a hundred garments. It was such a joy to step into the world of John, one brimming with to-die-for vintage glamour, a touch of nostalgia and plenty of drama, of course.  I absolutely loved being backstage as the room progressed through time in a matter of ninety minutes.  From the petticoats and bustles of the 1880s, to the strikingly modern creations by student designers at NC State, little by little, with hundreds of combinations of hair, accessories, make-up and clothing, the history of fashion swept by all around me.  I was nothing short of a picture taking machine, desperately trying to capture this once in a lifetime, vintage dream.
